Panel Discussion: Four Day School Week

Superintendents will convene at ESSDACK in the mall in Hutchinson next Friday, February 26 from 9:30-11:30 discuss the 4-Day School Week as a potential solution to the financial challenges faced in schools today. The conversation will include a panel of superintendents who will share their personal insights and experiences with this schedule.

Four Day School Week

four day school week seems to work for many school districts. Colorado has done it for a long time. Why will it not work for USD 405?

4 day school

I think a 4 1/2 day school week would be the best. Teachers are in school 5 days a week. Students that are passing and have no missing homework go to school 4 1/2 days. Out at lunch time on Fridays. The students with missing assignments and or not passing all classes, stay in school on Friday and work on passing and missing assignments. Teachers would be available for help all day Friday.

Spanish, High School Instructor

Due to budget constraints, we can no longer justify a full-time Spanish instructor in a 1A school. However, because our instructor is a solid teacher, we also do not want to have to let her go if we can find creative ways to employ her full-time.

If you would like to offer a Spanish class in your school but cannot afford a full-time instructor, please contact me as we may be able to create a win-win solution by either offering virtual instruction through IDL, the internet, or physical classroom interaction if you are within driving distance of USD 444.
